Did Microsoft Call?
Microsoft will never call if you have a Virus. We want all our clients and anyone reading this to remember that Microsoft or any other tech company will not call to inform you that you have a virus. The only exception would be like ourselves if you have a company looking after your services. Please stop wondering if Microsoft really called as Microsoft will never call if you have a Virus.
The computer is running slow and they said they could help
It is all too easy to be offered the chance to resolve any slowness, it has been driving you crazy for weeks or months and now suddenly the nice person on the other end of the phone finally has the solution! NO NO NO! Microsoft will never call if you have a virus
Microsoft will never call if you have a Virus
Apologies for the outburst but we are contacted all the time by people who are sadly duped out of large amounts of money but actually end up with Malware or other possible spying utilities installed on their machines.
I saw a popup asking me to call a number and Microsoft answered?
Microsoft does have a support line but we can almost always guarantee the support number you will call will be from a scam company posing as Microsoft. Your best bet is to seek protection by buying software such as BitDefender or signing up for a Managed Service Plan.
I think I was a victim of the scam, what do I do now?
Just remember Microsoft will never call if you have a Virus. If you think you were a victim of fraud then I recommend you contact us we need to establish what sort of damage is in play, once we have completed a thorough diagnostics we will be in a better position to go through your next options.
A few things that you can try:
Disconnect from the Internet
Run a virus scan (assuming you have up to date protection)
Check Add/Remove programs to see if anything is new (sort by date)
Check your desktop for any new files such as notepad documents
Assuming you were able to check these things and found nothing please don’t assume anything is wrong. Our best recommendation would be to take it to an expert. If you are in the Yorkshire area then Contact Us if you are further than Yorkshire we can still help out remotely but which option suits you is always best.
What protection is available as I don’t think I am protected?
Protection is very important, relying on the built-in tools is not always the answer. Mac or PC you can be affected and we have teamed up with the best services to provide you with ample protection.
