Outdated Technology is costing your business

Computer hardware is crucial to having efficiency in any business. When having a computer system you have to think of the components like the motherboard, processor, hard drive (SSD or classic) and RAM. The importance of replacing computer hardware needs to be considered as it can play a significant role in the lifespan of your computer, we are not always referring to replacing your complete system.

Why replace my computer?

Technology continues to advance rapidly, with this new computers tend to be more advanced with speeds and capabilities. With this Operating Systems and computer software gets bloated, features added that older machines can struggle with. By replacing older hardware that is outdated, such as the components or the whole machine can increase both productivity and efficiency. As a user we should want our machines to be fast and efficient. I can tell when there is something wrong and the machine is not performing how you would expect it, can you?

Is speed the only reason to replace hardware?

Absolutely not, older systems may not have the latest in-built security features to protect against malware or other hacking attempts. Outdated systems can be more vulnerable, hackers can find zero-day attacks that may not be possible to patch and older hardware and software may not be supported and won’t receive patches.

Replacing damaged or worn parts can also prolong the life-span of your device and preventing any possible data loss from broken parts that can cause further damage if left unchecked for too long. Adding more memory (where possible) can also help keep up the pace with technological advancements and avoid the need for a complete system overhaul. Although, Hamilton Group Ltd do recommend reviewing your IT Systems every 3-5 years.

Replacing hardware can help you save money

Older systems can consume more power than newer ones, there is a battle between Intel, ARM and AMD are in a battle to produce the most efficient CPUs. So far ARM has been ahead, especially when Apple introduced the M series of the MacBook range.

Intel Arc has started looking more efficient too, but not ARM and Snapdragon with their efficient processors are doing their best to prolong battery life and in-turn this will be more efficient and less power hungry.
